Comparison is what you do when there's a choice between two options.
Comparison is usless when one of those options is not an available choice.

When contemplating a new option, don't compare to the previous option that you can't go back to. Maybe, long after a new option has been adopted as good, it might be amusing to compare to things past, but until then it's futile or even counterproductive.
