Dear Open Source World,

please stop having such long dependency chains. I was going to try extending a popular open source package tonight, but it's being developed using a version control system I don't have (bzr), and compiling that requires 4 other packages I don't have. This is a high barrier to entry. Unless I am spectacularly devoted I could easily wimp out before getting anywhere on this. :-(
