Internet phone only?

A few years ago I ditched Plain Old Telephone Service and went cell-phone only when I moved and got cable internet. I've considered that with Skype I could get probably all the phone I need for $70/year which would be a big savings over the current $60/month I'm paying for cell. On the down side it would be kinda like going back to pre cellphone days of only getting calls while I'm at home and listening to voicemail there, except that sometimes I would be able to get calls elsewhere with my laptop and leeched WiFi.

Just a random musing on living in the internet age.

More likely I'll get an iPhone in June.
