ahhh, the legal system. Got a postcard in the mail; got called for jury duty. But, I had to call a phone number every night and listen to a recorded message that told me to call again the next night. And I had to remember to call every night because the message might say that I have to go in tomorrow morning and if I don't there could be jail or fines to pay. The answering machine finally told me to go there at 8:30 in the morning, earlier than I'm used to getting to work. I woke up to an alarm, bicycled there and got there early, sat around reading a book- even while they started explaining things. I payed just enough attention to hopefully notice when something important was being said; most of it wasn't relevant. Around 9:40, a few minutes into the jury instructional and pep video, we were told that the case was settled and we could all go. eh.
