"The Passion of the Christ" is gross

queen_of_wands and I watched it about a week ago.

I wasn't timing it, but it felt like at least half the movie was really gross humiliation and torture. To me, the movie was all about the bodily suffering and death of Jesus. The way they emphasized some things with music and how the movie was cut also rather put me off. I'm pretty sure I disagree in some big ways with someone who would put together a movie about Jesus like that. My movie about Jesus would be much different. More about his teachings and his life than his gruesome death. But of course, I'm a UU Humanist with a vague sense of mystical appreciation.
