Adventures in Generica

This afternoon walking around a suburban landscape consisting of a shopping mall, office buildings full of financial and high tech businesses, some strip malls and a couple standalone big box (more medium-large-box, really) stores.

I don't like it.

The most local flavor to be had was a pizza place and some other restaurant in one of the strip malls. Everything else was an instance of a major chain.

Cars are assumed here. Sidewalks didn't go where I wanted to go. Intersections didn't even have crosswalks painted. I don't remember seeing any bike lanes. I was clearly out of my element trying to be a pedestrian here.

Trying to not have to idle a spare hour at a Starbucks, I went across the street (at no particular crossing) to the Barnes&Noble to their cafe which I discovered after getting there serves Starbucks brand goods.

Definitely not a place to live or spend too much time in. Other parts of the Boston area are nice, but this one is not for me.
